Features:

  • NXP/Freescale MC9S12XDP512 112pin microcontroller.
  • FTDI USB serial communications.
  • TE Connectivity Val-U-Lok connectors with female plugs and crimp on sockets are included.
  • Up to two low drop-out 5v 1.0A regulators.
  • Fused 5v @ 0.5A analog power supply output for sensors.
  • Extruded aluminum enclosure is available, but not included.
  • PCB Size: 80mm L x 100mm W x 13mm H
  • Can be used with FreeEMS firmware OR LibreEMS firmware by selecting FreeEMS Port T outputs or LibreEMS Port B outputs to drive ignition and injector outputs.

Inputs:

  • On board Ambient Absolute Pressure (AAP) sensor
    (if desired/ordered).
  • On board Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor.
    (Can be ordered without the MAP sensor for use with an external sensor).
  • Two thermistor inputs for Intake Air Temperature (IAT) and Coolant/Head Temperature (CHT).
  • Three 0v-5v analog inputs for Manifold Air Flow (MAF), Oxygen Sensor (WBO2) and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).
  • Battery/Alternator/Power supply reference voltage input.
  • Two RPM/Speed/Frequency inputs, can be used for Crank (RPM)/Cam (Sync)/VSS/Flex-Fuel Sensors. (Can be expanded to four with an additional module).  These can be VR/Digital/Hall Effect inputs.
  • Load/Run jumper available from the external connector to allow firmware updates without opening the (optional) enclosure.
  • 6 MCU Port T Inputs available for use (Port T2-7).

Outputs:

  • 4 Injector Low Side Drive outputs (switch to ground). (Rated 3.5A per channel)
  • 4 Low Side Drive outputs (switch to ground). (Rated 3.5A per channel)
    Possible Uses: Fuel Pump/Radiator Fan/Boost Control/TCC Lockup/Other.
  • 1 High Side Drive output (switch to 12v). (Rated 10.0A)
    Possible Uses: GM/Mazda Fuel Pump/VTEC (yo!)/Other.
  • 4 Ignition MOSFET Driver outputs (switch from ground to 5v/12v selectable). (Rated 3.0A per channel)
  • 6 MCU Port A Outputs available for use (Port A0-A5).

Communications:

  • FTDI FT232RL host powered USB serial communications.
    There is an on board USB micro connector and a header for external USB communications.
  • USB communications are isolated from the microcontroller so that an inverter may be used to power a laptop/notebook/tablet without disrupting communications.
  • Datalogger port that is connected to the same serial interface that is used for the USB serial communications allows you to use a datalogger such as a SeeedStudio SDLogger.
  • 1 Car Area Network (CAN) interface allows the CoolEFI Basic ECU to communicate with other CAN modules.
  • 1 two-wire I2C interface allows the CoolEFI Basic ECU to communicate with other I2C modules.

Optional Expansion Module: (Available Separately in the near future)

  • 5 additional 0-5v or Thermistor inputs.
  • 2 additional RPM/Speed/Frequency inputs that can be used for Crank (RPM)/Cam (Sync)/VSS/Flex-Fuel Sensors.  These can be VR/Digital/Hall Effect inputs.  These utilize MCU inputs on Port T2 and T3.
  • 2 additional injector or general purpose low side drivers. (Rated for 3.5A)
  • 2 additional PWM general purpose low side drivers. (Rated for 3.5A)
  • 2 additional ignitor drivers. (Rated 3.0A)
  • 4 Wire Stepper Motor Driver. (ie: GM IAC)
